The Lydster, Part 32: Brought to You By the Letter L

It's only been in the last month or so that every time Lydia sees a capital L, she says, "That's my name!" And it's not only her initial she's glommed onto. Every A represents her friend Alex, e.g.

EVERYTHING with a right angle is an L now. She took a bite out of a Wheat Thin from the corner, and the resulting figure: "That's my name!" She sees a check mark and proclaims the same. We have these refrigerator magnets which we've been using to trace her name. OK, just the L, so far.

It only occurred to me after she was named that her initials are the same as my father's. Those of you with degrees in psychology: please discuss, and get back to me about the existential significance of that.

The interesting thing about child development is that it 's so non-linear. On the same night (Friday) we're off at Grandma and Grandpa's and she asks to use the toilet, rather than the potty for the first time is the same night she decides to sleep with Mommy and/or Daddy again.

Anyway, she's more interesting to me all the time. Happy 2 2/3, my child.

That's kinda nice that they ended up with the same initials by accident. Did your father also run around pointing out every L he saw to remind people of his name?

Great 2 2/3 years pictures and how wonderful that you share with us details of Lydia's development. I always look forward to the BLOG. The "L" stories are so fascinating. She is great in identifying relationships and similarities in a very expansive way. I L (ydia) OVE the way children learn and observe life. My observation is that Lydia is not only a very beautiful child, but is also very intelligent! I look forward to her smile and interactions on Sunday mornings. What a blessing! MR

Hi Roger,

I was wondering when the Vespers service was! I would like to make it, but don't know if it will be possible. (I really mean I want to make it. I've been thinking about it. I really love to hear that choir!)

Lydia is so big. Every time I see new pictures it just floors me. Of course, her growth does not mean at all that the rest of us are getting older.

Is Emmanuel Baptist the church that is across from Westminster? I'm curious to know what they are doing with their space. I presume there will be web pictures or a TU article or something at some point.

Say hi to Carol for me --

Wow, Roger - she's getting so big and she's just gorgeous! I appreciate you sharing her with us. One of these days I'll have grandkids and then I can share too. GRINS!

My goodness - I think Lydia has grown tremendously since I last checked the blog photos. She's starting to look like a young girl, no longer a toddler.
Kids sure grow fast!

Thanks for sharing,

Mary Beth

GP- No, but my father referred to his painting, sign-making pursuits as Elgee Arts.
